Roy Baltimore recalls: Mrs. Wilkes used to designate certain boys to cut switches for her, because that ground behind the schoolhouse was grown up in little saplings. And she used them pretty heavily on one of those boys from around Hog Wallow, and the boy’s mother complained to the school system, Albemarle County school system. And they investigated it.
