1610 Woolen Mills Road, across the street from the Maddex house, was the residence of Warren S. Graves. Graves began working at the mill in 1880; in 1920 he lived with his son, Claude (33) and daughter, Nora (30). Graves was the carding foreman at the mill. His son Claude worked downtown at Charlottesville Hardware.

In 1930 at the age of 71, Graves still retained his foreman position, having worked at the mill for 50 years.
